Dialysis:

A person suffering from kidney failure can survive only when he/she undergoes dialysis or kidney transplantation. Haemodialysis involves the use of an artificial kidney termed "Dialyser", which emulates the functions of a normal kidney. It needs to be done 2-3 times a week and is expensive. Pondicherry Kidney Foundation endeavors to make dialysis affordable for those patients who otherwise cannot afford it. Till May 2006, we have helped 1530 dialysis for renal failure patients contributing Rs.1,52,250/- for the subsidized  dialysis.

 Donor Experience

Kiran Anchan says:

One day while I was surfing on the net, I just got into the Site of Give India and was pretty impressed by the programs undertaken. It also gave me a platform to do something for the society.

The programs were well chalked out and made me go for it. I was pretty apprehensive about using my credit card on the internet. This was the first time Ever in my life that I used my credit card on Internet. I liked the feedback form in which it mentions about the person to whom the funds have been given. It really feels good that You have atleast changed someone's life in a small way if not big.

Thanks GiveIndia for giving me this opportunity. Looking forward for more such ways wherein I can contribute.

 Success Story

Mr. Devanathan get.

Mr. Devanathan, aged 50 lives in Tirukoilure, Tamilnadu, 70 kms from Pondicherry. He has three daughters and one son. By profession, he is a farmer. He developed Chronic Renal Failure due to Diabetes, which prevented him from working, and affected his livelihood. He was advised dialysis twice a week, but the cost were too high for him to afford.

He heard about and approached the Pondicherry Kidney Foundation for subsidized dialysis. He is now undergoing subsidized dialysis through the help of Pondicherry Kidney Foundation. He now undergoes dialysis twice a week.

To undergo life long dialysis twice a week would not have been possible for Mr. Devanathan, with out it being subsidized. Pondicherry Kidney Foundation has enabled him to undergo dialysis for his renal failure. He is now looking after his family and his family now supports and helps him to live a normal life. This would not have been possible without the help of subsidized dialysis.
